BEHAVIOR. This is your basic stuff, nothing you haven't read on every other forum before. Treat each other like decent human beings. If there's conflict, move it from the chatbox, break it up, diffuse it, or contact a staff member. I don't expect every single person to get along all the time, but don't make this site an awkward, tense place by letting things escalate in front of everyone else (some of us are just here for a good time). Any sort of discriminating remarks made toward another member will not be tolerated. [break][break]
CONTENT. Keep everything within Proboards TOS (basically, let's keep it PG-13; there's violence/murder obviously, there's cursing, there's implied sexual content, drug mention, but smut is not allowed and no super graphic violence). If you want to thread your characters being their freaky selves, take it to Discord or private message, ya dirty birds. [break][break]
ACCOUNTS. Make one account per character. Feel free to also make yourself an OOC Account, but doing so isn't required. Please fill out their custom fields and provide them with a hover image (200x350) and avatar. If you need help with anything, or are unable to crop/edit images, just shoot me a PM or message me on Discord. I can help you. Other members may be able to as well, so feel free to post a question/request in the chatbox. [break][break][break]

GENERAL. Your staple character rules (you know 'em): no godmodding, no Gary/Mary Sues, try to use good grammar and spelling (make it legible, at the very least). Roleplayers of all level are accepted, but there is a 100-word minimum on all in-character posts. There isn't really a character limit, but please try and be active with your threads (we all have lives, so its understandable if things take time, but constantly abandoning threads is no fun). If I feel like you have a tendency of picking up/dropping characters continually, then you may not be allowed to make another or take on canon characters. [break][break]
RENOWN. Renown is our site's currency. You earn Renown every time you create an in-character reply/thread. Renown can also be earned from Spotlight rewards, completing Quests, filling Wanted Ads, and from participating in any Site Wide Events. Renown can be spent at the Site Shop, where you upgrade your character's weapon, armor, and trinkets, upgrade or unlock Specializations and Talents/Schools, or purchase Familiars/Pets. [break][break]
COMBAT/TALENTS/SKILLS. There is no actual battle mechanic on our site. Just write your characters and their skill/talents believably. Be mindful when writing your character — all characters have stamina/mana limits, no one is infallible, inexhaustible, or without weakness. Big moves cost a lost. There are four tiers to each talent/school: Basic Familiarity, Intermediate Familiarity, Advanced Familiarity, and Mastery. Every character starts with Intermediate Familiarity in one talent/school, and Basic Familiarity in another. Upgrades to your characters Familiarity in a talent/school can be bought with Renown. [break][break]
SPECIALIZATION. Speaking of Specializations, every character starts out with one Specialization, which you can choose when submitting your character application. A second and third specialization can be earned once reaching a certain post threshold, or simply bought with Renown. There is a list of available specializations in the Rules & Guides board. [break][break]
CANONS. We accept both canon and original characters. Canons are both flexible and fixed. Liberties can be taken, but within reason. For example, you can not make a Cassandra Pentaghast who is fourteen years old, but you may make Cassandra Pentaghast a lesbian if you so wish. You may take the liberty of creating a Hawke whose siblings both survived Act I, but said Hawke can not be Orlesian. Canon characters are also "first come, first serve" and all following characters must abide by the canon character(s) already claimed/established. For example, if there is already a Hawke on site, and their history claims Bethany died in the Deep Roads Expedition... then, unless the player agrees to make an allowance and change their history... Bethany Hawke is canonically dead and can not be made. You're limited to claiming two canon characters at first, and only after proving your activity with those two, will you be able to claim another. [break][break]
ORIGINAL CHARACTERS. You are free to bring whomever you wish to Kirkwall, so long as they fit in the Dragon Age universe. Humans, Qunari, Dwarves, and Elves make up the majority of the population, but there can be allowances — half-breeds, stone golems, spirits, etc. If you have a unique character idea you're not sure may be allowed, you can always ask. If they're something that could logically fit into this universe, chances are it will be okay.
